About the 8 Pro
The OnePlus 8 Pro, launched in 2020, was the model that finally gave the OnePlus line the flagship features it had long skipped. Running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with 5G, it drives a 6.78-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED panel that was one of the first OnePlus displays to combine a 120Hz refresh rate with 1440p resolution. The camera system moved to a proper quad array: a 48MP Sony IMX689 main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide, an 8MP 3x telephoto, and a novelty 5MP color-filter lens. Just as important for its era, the 8 Pro added the two things earlier OnePlus phones lacked, an official IP68 water-resistance rating and 30W Warp Charge wireless charging, alongside 30W wired charging for the 4,510 mAh battery. On the resale market its value hinges on the condition of the front and rear Gorilla Glass 5, battery health after several years of use, and whether the display shows the green-tint or black-crush issues some early units developed.

Common 8 Pro issues we check at inspection
- Display green tint or black crush. Some 8 Pro panels show a green tint in low brightness or crushed shadow detail, a widely reported issue that lowers buyer confidence.
- Cracked front or rear glass. Both sides use Gorilla Glass 5; drops commonly crack the curved display edges or the glass back.
- Battery degradation. The 4510mAh battery is often well below 80% health on units several years old, meaning noticeably shorter runtime.
- Wireless charging coil or wired port issues. Heavy Warp Charge use can wear the USB-C port or reduce wireless charging reliability.
- Camera autofocus or color-filter lens faults. The main or ultrawide can develop autofocus problems, and the novelty color-filter lens adds little resale value.
- Water damage despite IP68. Seal integrity degrades with age and after screen repairs, so tripped moisture indicators are common on used units.
