At inspection
Common iPhone 16e issues we check at inspection
- Screen delamination or lifting. The adhesive holding the display assembly to the frame can degrade over time, leading to lifting, especially around the edges, and potential touch unresponsiveness.
- Battery swelling and reduced capacity. As with most lithium-ion batteries, the battery in the iPhone 16e is prone to swelling with age, which can push on the screen and reduce its maximum capacity significantly.
- Face ID module failure. The complex Face ID sensor array is susceptible to damage from drops or water ingress, leading to intermittent or complete failure of the facial recognition system.
- Charging port issues (lint, wear, or damage). The Lightning port can accumulate lint and debris, leading to charging problems. Physical wear or damage from aggressive cleaning can also cause failure.
- Water damage indicators tripped. Internal liquid contact indicators may be tripped, signaling past water exposure, even if the device appears to be working. This often leads to long-term corrosion and failure.
- Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity problems. Antenna issues or internal component failures can lead to weak or non-existent Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals.
