Condition guide
How we grade every device that comes in, in plain English.
| Condition | What it means |
|---|---|
| Flawless | No scratches or scuffs anywhere. Screen and body look like new. Fully working, no cracks. |
| Good | Light, minor scratches or scuffs from normal use, none deep. No cracks or dents. Fully working. |
| Fair | Heavier scratches, scuffs, or a small dent, but no cracks in the glass or screen. Fully working. |
| Cracked screen | Cracked or chipped screen or back glass, but it still powers on and the touchscreen works. |
| Broken | Powers on but has a fault, a bad display, or a part not working (camera, buttons, Face ID). |
| Won't power on | Won't turn on or hold a charge. We still buy it for parts. |
At inspection
Common Sony Xperia 1 III issues we check at inspection
- Screen burn-in on OLED display. Ghost images from status bar, navigation buttons, or keyboard visible on OLED panels after extended use. The Xperia 1 III's OLED panel is susceptible to this over time.
- Battery degradation below 80% health. Original battery showing <80% maximum capacity after 2+ years of use. This is typical for most devices of this age.
- Camera module issues. Specific camera lenses (e.g., telephoto) may develop focus problems, image stabilization failures, or physical damage due to the complex multi-lens setup.
- Overheating during intensive tasks. The Snapdragon 888 chipset can generate significant heat, potentially leading to performance throttling or even temporary shutdowns, especially in older units.
- Minor cosmetic damage to glass back. The Gorilla Glass 6 back is prone to micro-scratches and scuffs from normal pocket or bag carry.
- USB-C port wear or damage. Frequent charging and data transfer can lead to a worn or damaged USB-C port, causing intermittent charging or data connectivity issues.
