At inspection
Common iPad Mini 6th Gen issues we check at inspection
- Screen scratches or cracks. The aluminum frame and glass front are susceptible to scratches and cracks from drops or everyday use. Sellers often list these as 'screen has scratches' or 'cracked screen'.
- Battery health below 80%. As a 2021 device, many units will have experienced significant battery cycles, leading to reduced capacity. Sellers may not always specify health, but it's a common underlying issue.
- Cosmetic wear on aluminum frame. The aluminum frame can develop dents, scuffs, and scratches, especially around the edges and corners, due to its material and design.
- Apple Pencil 2nd Gen pairing/charging issues. While not a device defect itself, issues with the magnetic charging and pairing of the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen can sometimes be misattributed to the iPad or the Pencil.
- Charging port issues (dirt, damage). The USB-C port can accumulate dust or suffer damage, leading to intermittent charging or data transfer problems.
- iCloud lock / Activation lock. Devices sold AS-IS often have an active iCloud lock, making them unusable without the original owner's credentials. This is a critical issue for 'for parts' listings.
